C&S RY NORTHERN DIVISION

Ops in the Time of COVID

Doug eases Denver & Interurban train No. 304 to a station stop in Broomfield under a threatening sky on June 8, 1958.  COVID has brought masks to the Northern Division, along with a reduced crew count and a one-hour-shorter 3-hour session.  We pause at the midpoint outside of the train room for a maskless snack break.
Brian is the train crew as CB&Q engine No.6308, a 2-10-2, brings train No. 44 out of Longmont.  Brian enjoys the comfort of plush carpeting as he rides the high iron.
No. 44 approaches the 2nd Street crossing, the only crossing in Niwot Colorado.  The brand new 50-foot steel boxcar looks out of place in Niwot, modeled as it appeared in 1910.
Tom (Assistant Yardmaster) and Gary (Yardmaster) keep Rice Yard humming on June 8, 1958.  Gary smiles for the camera, to no avail.
